About Us
We are Sash and Catherine Matsumoto. This project has been long in the making and we are excited for the opportunity to share it with family and friends. Our story began in the early 1980s meeting at the Los Angeles Flower Market. Sash was a wholesale florist and managing partner of San Elijo Growers, I was a retail florist working at La Mirada Florist with my family. We married in January 1986 and had our son in December of that same year. Three daughters arrived in two-year intervals making our family complete in May of 1992. On April 14, 1997, we arrived in Vista to a little bit of land where our family has worked hard and thrived. Rocky initially joined us as a guest in 2009 and became a permanent member of the family in 2011. Sash and I look forward to tackling many exciting projects as we create our own “field of dreams”. Our hope is to build a legacy by sharing our joy and leaving this world a little more beautiful.
Sash attended CSULA majoring in Finance; he is a successful Real Estate Appraiser in the San Diego and South Riverside area. In between his hectic schedule, he willingly humors me and tackles the ever-growing list of “one more thing”. Sash is extremely hard working, super sexy on his tractor, more handsome and even stronger than he was at 19 with his Bruce Lee pecks (the Japanese version).
While I too get my boots on, dig in the dirt, and love working the field with the tractor, I am self-appointed the researcher and documentarian of this project. I am a first-generation college graduate; the proud alumna of Palomar College, CSUSM, SDSU and Capella University where I ultimately earned a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Post-Secondary and Adult Learning. I currently teach in the Communication and Speech/ASL Departments at two of my alma maters in San Marcos, California.
